Serving the community since 1904 Canonsburg General Hospital is part of the West Penn Allegheny Health System.  The hospital is located in one of the fastest growing regions of southwestern Pennsylvania, conveniently located near Route 19 and Interstate 79 in North Strabane Township.  Canonsburg General Hospital provides a wide-range of medical and surgical services, with advanced diagnostic and treatment services.  The hospital has an active and growing ambulatory care center, along with emergency services, cardiac catheterization lab, cardiac rehabilitation, occupational medicine and home care programs.  Specialized services in acute inpatient rehabilitation are also offered.

Canonsburg General Hospital embraces the community it serves through its many outreach programs.  The hospital has a long-standing relationship with several local school districts to provide in-school health programming through Project Healthy Children.  Throughout the year, a variety of health education programs and health screenings are offered to area residents, free-of-charge.

Canonsburg General Hospital received 18,724 emergency visits, 64,416 outpatient visits and admitted over 4,580 inpatients in 2005.

The construction of an 11,200 square foot Emergency department is currently underway.  The addition, which will nearly triple the size of the emergency department and increase bed size to 18, will be located adjacent to the Ambulatory Care Department. Construction is slated to be completed in June 2006.  Emergency medicine services will continue to be uninterrupted during the construction project.

Growth in services, technology and staff has been the byword at Monongahela Valley Hospital throughout its history.  And that trend continues as the health system perpetuates its mission to provide residents of the mid-Monongahela Valley and beyond with quality health care.

Formed in 1972, Monongahela Valley Hospital is a full-service facility with a 180-member medical staff representing over 40 medical specialties.  MVH also offers medical/surgical, obstetrics/gynecology, psychiatric and rehabilitation services; critical and cardiac care; emergency medicine; a Skilled Care Center and a SameDay Surgery Center.

With nearly 1,000 employees, Monongahela Valley Hospital is the largest employer in the mid-Monongahela Valley and the third largest employer in Washington County.  As such, the healthcare system plays a vital and viable role in the area’s economic structure by generating revenues back into the community in the purchase of products and services and the payment by employees of taxes to municipalities and school districts.

A major expansion of the Emergency Department more than doubles the number of patient treatment suites from 11 to 23 and increases the size of the unit from 7,100 square feet to 18,450 square feet.  All suites have enhanced privacy with sliding glass breakaway doors and curtains and the waiting area is increased by five times its original size.

Meanwhile, Monongahela Valley Hospital also offers at its spacious campus in Carroll Township:

The Charles L. and Rose Sweeney Melenyzer Pavilion and Regional Cancer Center for radiation therapy and chemotherapy services is a three-story facility that also houses the health system’s Laboratory and Cardiopulmonary Therapy departments.  The facility is the first of its kind in Washington County

Critical Care Units, SameDay Surgery Center, Obstetric-Gynecology services, Medical/Surgical units, a Behavioral Health unit and a Pediatrics unit.

The Anthony M. Lombardi Education Conference Center can accommodate up to 300 persons for wellness screenings and health education programs.

The Washington Hospital

Washington, PA 15301

From its beginning in 1897, the hospital partnered with the community to fulfill the area's health care needs. Today, the hospital prides itself on offering comprehensive health services so that the community's needs can be met close to home. The Washington Hospital provides 24-hour inpatient, outpatient and emergency medical and surgical care. There are 18 locations throughout Washington and Greene counties.
The Washington Hospital is very proud of its national recognition as one of America's 100 top orthopedic hospitals, as well as an internationally recognized innovator in health care information technology.

A major element of the hospital's mission as a health care provider is education. The Washington Hospital School of Nursing has graduated thousands of nurses since its founding in 1897. The Washington Hospital Family Practice Residency Program was among the first chartered programs in Pennsylvania to provide training of family practice physicians. The Washington Hospital School of Radiologic Technology has been providing excellent radiology education for more than 50 years. Each year, the hospital invests thousands of hours and dollars in free community education programs for local residents.

Working hand-in-hand with many community organizations, the hospital has helped to improve the quality of life for many local residents through such programs as the Teen Outreach program to reduce teen pregnancies, the Washington County Health Partners, Inc., to improve the overall health status of the community and many other local agencies that enrich the lives of area residents.

The hospital's financial contributions, volunteerism and service on various committees and Boards of Directors are well known throughout Washington County. The hospital has, since it's founding, more than fulfilled the mission of its founders that it not only would be a place to care for the sick and injured, but it would become an institution of lasting value.
